With the emergence of digital media, we are living in the most heavily mediated society in human history. With life now becoming synonymous with digital gadgets, we seem to consider their presence as ordinary and their absence as something unnatural. Regardless of the challenges posed by the digital age, one thing is certain: we can’t turn back the clock. The force of digital technology can neither be stopped, nor should we even want it to be. What is required of us is to have adequate knowledge that can help us identify the varied problems, challenges and possibilities in the digital culture we are part of, and necessary skills to wade through the waters of the digital sea safely and sensibly.
ST PAULS MEDIA EDUCATION (SPME) aims at empowering and equipping people with the essential media knowledge and skills to navigate the media world competently and responsibly.
ST PAULS MEDIA EDUCATION (SPME) is an educational initiative of the Society of St Paul, an international religious congregation founded by Blessed James Alberione in Alba, Italy on 20 August 1914. Its members are known as Paulines. Faithful to the mission assigned them by their Founder, they communicate the Christian messages and values with the use of all means that technology pus at the disposition of people. They are present in 32 countries around the world. They are active in many fields of media: editorial and bookstores, journalism, cinematography, television, radio, audio-visual, multimedia, media college, research, formation and animation.
